Mishka Henner

Henner, a key practitioner among a generation of artists redefining the role of photography in the internet age, was born in Brussels and currently lives in the UK. When Google introduced its free satellite imagery service in 2005, views of the planet only accessible to astronauts and surveyors were suddenly available to anyone with an internet connection. Governments concerned about the sudden visibility of political, economic and military locations exerted considerable influence over suppliers of this imagery to censor sites deemed vital to national security. One of the most vociferous to enforce this form of censorship were the Dutch.
