Carolyn Drake

California-based Drake works on long term photo-based projects seeking to interrogate dominant historical narratives and creatively reimagine them. Between 2007 and 2013 she traveled frequently in Central Asia, spending time working with different groups including the Uyghurs in Western China. These works were done early in the lockdown in 2020 and shaped by restrictions due to Covid.
